Hey everyone! does anyone have any experience with 2j’s V2 street cams? im kind of looking into them and just wanted some input on these if they are worth the money? Im just getting the intake side of cams or is it better to get both sets? staying NA for awhile because turbo is beyond the horizon for me at the moment!

 This statement alone tells me you are not ready for cams yet.

I have a dyno of the v2 with my high comp motor Joe did but it also had the current header they offer, never drove with it since I wanted what I originally agreed to but I can post the image.

Thats why im asking, never had a cam set up before. Still doing my research on cams and there benefits, it says on 2js site for b16 you can just order the intake cam. Can you please give me some more input on these?

the 2nd generation spec v exhaust cams are better than most after market cams,
from what i have seen on dyno runs

for a street spec [b16] do not lose that cam

the intake cam [oem] is mild
so adding a more rad cam on the intake side is all you need

cams work best
tuned and with associated and matching parts

a 2jr cai, header and a good exhaust, uprev tuned
will get maximum benefit from them

on mine using the b16 rotating assembly ,b16 intake
2jr race header and 3" side exhaust, but JWT c1 cams
dyno tuned
made for great street motor for na

my orig car an s spec v
came with the nismo cams made 156hp on the dyno [most make about 146hp]
so figure cams alone tuned are worth 8 plus hp on the conservative side

i value cams for their ability to change where and how the power comes in

why i like them has nothing to do with the meager 8 hp
they change the character of the motor

it becomes a much more sporting piece
at higher revs the motor seems to come alive

in general they move the power band higher in the rev range
i love winding mine out

I want a little more out of my NA, cams seem to be the next best thing after doing more research especially since im a mtn highway driver but how do the V2’s do in the low torque rev range? where the b16 pulls the best

i generally run the most rad setup i can get away with
so low end is not my strength
and for the most part like to keep my rpm at about 3000

this is on c1 cams designed to be useful at 7000 rpm and up
the c1 cam makes less power than the s1 below 4000 rpm

[b] i like the 2j street cams
the intake cam is more of a match to the oem exhaust cam
and due to higher lift than oem makes more tq down low

that why i like these cams
they provide a real boost where we normally drive and yet still have a nice kick at the top end
[/b]

so no
you will not lose low end but may actually gain some if its tuned
imo

and if later you go turbo they will be an asset there too

my c1s were a detriment to turbo use
too much overlap

but what about idle? i heard getting cammed gives you a rough idle

take your time
no rush
wait to you actually see, hear, and drive in a cammed qr25de

my c1s pale in comparison to the c8's i ran in the vq
those cams affect idle

most radica cams available in common use for the qr
jwt C1s

idle is not a problem

my idle open exhaust most radical tune
[tune 3]

driving and idle closed exhaust
Imagenormal by Barry Belgard, on Flickr

starting and driving around

for street cams
the new 2jr street cams
or
choose jwt S1's

imo

So far ive only watched a few videos with the JWT s1 only saw one video of the 2J street ones, This is something im not planning on doing right away but for later on maybe late summer just getting more input on camming the car. But thank you for all the info its really been helping! but yes since its a DD the 2j cams will probably work better for me in the future with a tune of course

well, what i was waiting for joe finally did

here on the dyno is the comparison of the 2jr streets and the c1's

the street cams kill mine on low end
and still nudge out the c1's on the top end

[to be fair, the c1's need a much higher cr at least 11.5 to do any better]
