the use of water injection to prevent detonation began in ww2 on finicky b29 aircooled radial engine bombers

since my motor is /was finicky
runs on the ragged edge of block destruction at over 400 hp at the crank
[347whp on tune 2]
i thought this could be a useful safeguard on my motor

the original goal was to match [at 16lb boost], the whp and tq of tune 3 which runs 50% e85
since e85 is pretty much not available here
[361 whp, 374 ft lb tq]

what really happened?
we made the engine less radical and longer living by dropping 2lbs boost

much more streetable now, less explosive display of power
a broader tq band

and 19lft lb more tq with the same 347whp [for tune 2]
on 2lbs less boost

the driving experience has radically changed
before i would get nervous if the engine were operating below 3000 rpm [c1 cams]
and never let it go below 2600 rpm

with no knock or ping on tq pro
i can cruise at 2200 rpm in 6th gear

pull hills
a no shift, low speed highway experience

from 3200 up in 6th there is a more noticeable boot in the pants
you can feel 19 ft lbs of tq

effortless passing trucks in 6th
at much lower speeds than before

i feel safer, i imagine the spray cleans the plugs too
comes on at 6lb boost [read often]

so my plugs are spotless
i push it just to hear the pump run

even so, my calculated mpg has gone up a little over 1mpg
hard to tell on just 2 tanks of gas and a 1/4 tank of boost juice
it always had a fair idle, but totally consistent now

much happier at sub 2500 rpm now
almost running 1 gear higher than normal

i'm tickled with how it runs now
it's like a normal motor
quieter too [perhaps because i'm one gear higher]

current dyno chart is in red

look at the run numbers
give you an idea of the time it spent on the dyno
