How to: Dynomat the knock sensor. (Fixes bogging issue)

Obsidian Ninja edit engage:

Did this to show why it was done and what this thread actually is. Great job to the OP for this!

WARNING: To everyone who does this. Do NOT use anything but 91+ octane gas with this done. This sensor is to stop your engine from severe damage in the event their cheapo owners get crappy gas to save a couple of dollars. By doing this mod you are effectively making this sensor inoperable so its up to the owner to not screw up their own engine.

-------------------------------------------------------

first of all you got to put the car on jack stands or on a lift. then look at the back of the block under the intake manifold. looks like this.

then you get some dynamat and you only need like a piece thats like a 2 in sqaure.
fold the piece in half and cut a small hole in the center for the bolt to go through, oh and the bolt uses a 12mm wrench to lossen it.
then put the sticky side on the ks and fold up or cut the left over on the sides. i folded the sides cus i didnt want to cut them off and chance damage to the ks.looks lke this.

ok after you wrap it you need to bolt it back up using the 12mm wrench, do it snug tight not super tight.looks like this when done.
Image
Image
ok its really easy to do, the bolt is easy to access just use a flathead to undo it from the connection. be gentle with the ks. and dont tighten it down to tight. the test drive after the job was great the car really felt more responsive, felt like it should feel, i was inpressed.
i bought 2 sheets of the dyna mat from the local audio store cus they didnt have any scrap to give me, so i have a whole lot left. if you want i can mail you the portion youll need to do the job just let me know and ill get your address and put some in the mail for you, i have no use for the extra so if you want some i hae no prob mailing you some no cost.
hope this helps anyone wanting to do this to ur ks. let me know if you have any questions.

I'd like a piece, but when I click on your name it doesn't give the option to PM you? Soo, see if you can PM me and I'll give my address and all that. Thanks for making this thread BTW. It's gonna help out a lot of people.

Nice job on the how-to. By the way, my car is still running great and I have had no problems for several months now.

ok well got bad news, im still get a bog every now and then, i dont know why maybe my piece of dynamat didnt cover the sensor enough or its too tight cus i do remember reading that its only supose to hold the bolt from coming out, when i did it i maybe it kinda snug so im ganna do it again today and just get it finger tight then do a couple turns with the wrench, just got a new jack yesterday so give me a reason to use it. hope it has better results this time, if anyone can let me know on about how tight they made there bolts it would help. thanks alot, oh and to those who pm me for dynamat ill be getting it in the mail monday.

I was going to when I had my front end apart but I completely forgot. Hopefully I will remember when I put my front bumper on...if I do I will let you know.

update: after more than 1000 miles the car feels great.

However after 3-4 hours+ of driving straight I feel a little hesitation after stopping and going again. but other then that it feels good.
