Finally got my intake installed. Excuse the dirty engine and rusted heat shield!

Headers and exhaust are next for mods!

yupp i sure did feel a difference! it always feels like my car just wants to stay at a high rev the whole time!

my headers came in today with the down pipe but still no midpipe and axle back

Nice. Yes I have noticed this engine loves being in the high RPMs. It loves it, I do too :D

You're almost there with the parts!

I've never installed a UDP. I've never seen any dyno charts proving any sort of HP/TQ gain. Just people saying they are awesome you should get one 'blah blah'

Clearly my opinion :D

just my opinion

if you use the car for sport
[read shift like mad]

then the stock dampener is the least cost best option
limits crank shock

for the light 2jr pulley
if just a DD,
i enjoyed the "feel" of quicker revs
and the slight improvement in stop and go traffic mpg.
[less mass to accelerate, decelerate per stop]

however,
for a real drag/track car
whats pictured works

required by the racing organizations listed on the front of the pulley

We got that balancer chain thingy too that you can cut, that allegedly add 10 HP. Don't have a lot of details about that. Honestly I/H/E is the best you can do w/out cracking the engine or scoping out a turbo. The other stuff you bolt in there doesn't make a huge difference for the cost IMO.

Feel free to correct me Yogi Dude :D

no corrections necessary
i spent more money getting to 187whp na
than 350whp turbo

please don't cut the chain on a dailly driver
i found the increase in vibs annoying
for very little power gain

yes, i run a bsr on the turbo motor, however, the rotating assebly is balanced meticulously
and i run a huge crank dampener
the motor is relatively smooth

for NA
a good intake
a good header and 2.5" exhaust

i didn't find a lot of power like that
but the sounds changed dramatically

a better one piece [i prefer steel esp for a DD] flywheel
quickens shifting up and eases shifting down

last would be mild cams and a tune
[2jr street, or jwt s1's]

this changes the feel of the engine
and makes for imo a very fun high revving engine

set up like this ,they are a joy in the mts or on an auto-x course

still needs a few things to be a really a fun track car, [coilovers, swaybars]

thats more money than you would expect
but
you'll get a very fun DD
esp if you do mostly highway driving

good sound, spirited performance and fun to drive

stop there or build for turbo
imo

I think for me i will stick with I/H/E and maybe an ECU tune. There is a local shop in town that only does ECU tuning and maybe free up some more HP. But what good will cams do? does it give you more top end torque?

cams change where the power comes in
and hi po cams shift max power higher in the rpm range

by increasing valve lift [size of the opening]
and duration [how long its held open]

hi po cams increase power

at higher rpm, by moving more fuel and air
more hp is developed

usually minor, in my case from 165 to 172
[supported by header, sri and no tune]

however the engine feel, from the drivers seat is completely different.
gone is the torquey truck motor

and you have what feels like, an old classic vette motor instead

at 5600 where the old motor fell off,
it now comes alive
and depending on crank and cams chosen, screams to 6500-7000 rpm
with rev limit extended,

and if no tune and uprev
makes the pull from 4600 to 6200 ecstatic

added to a fully bolted motor
the feel, sound, whole car changes in your experience
if you go by feel they are a great success

if by 1/8 mile times
not so much

imo
imo

10sec flat with just an sri
9.25sec plenum, race header, c1 cams, 3" exhaust, uprev tuned

built and turbo about 8 flat
built and cammed vq also about 8 flat
for comparison

can't seem to post pics or vid , at the moment
